We woke up to a sunny, fresh day. Just being back at the ocean was gift enough, but we were blessed with more in our day than we could have ever anticipated.
After a nice breakfast, Jim walked with Stan to the seashore while Nancy and I went to Arroyo Grande where we did a little shopping in the gift shops. Afterwards we met up with the guys and drove up to Shell Beach where we had a wonderful lunch right on the shore at the Spyglass restaurant. It was such a beautiful setting.
After lunch we drove up to a place where we could walk on trails between the shore and beautiful million dollar (and more!) homes. It was a simply lovely walk and I wanted those moments to last forever. I hope there are oceans in heaven.
We drove down the coast to the pier at SanLuis Bay. This was a railroad loading pier for ships many years ago, so we were able to drive right onto this sturdy pier a good distance into the ocean bay. There we saw many sea lions, pelicans and other ocean fowl. Jim saw two fisherman fishing on the end of the pier and naturally gravitated toward them. I think he is beginning miss his fishing time!
Just when I was beginning to think there could no more things we could see or do, we were taken to a wonderful fruit stand. It seemed so strange to see piles of pumpkins sitting near palm trees in a warm climate. There was no frost on the pumpkin today!
We have had such a great time with Stan and Nancy. They are wonderful hosts but more importantly dear friends. We will treasure the days we have spent with them.
