Full Day

We had no idea when we went to bed last night that today would be another day full of so much learning and adventure. We started the day with Stan and watched pistachios and almonds being harvested and learned how cotton is picked and processed. It was fun to stand in the field and hand pick a cotton boll. We learned the difference between Pima and regular cotton and I now understand why I prefer Pima cotton bed sheets!

Later in the morning I had the privilege of listening to Nancy lecture for Community Bible Study. Jim, in the meantime, spent more time with Stan who is a wealth of historical information.

We had lunch with some of Stan and Nancy's children and then packed up for an overnight trip to Stan and Nancy's condo in Pismo Beach. What a special treat to be able to spend another day at the ocean in this beautiful environment. Jim and I never tire of the sea. What amazes us is that with just a couple of hours drive the climate and topography can totally change. This is just one of the reasons we think California is one of the most beautiful states in the Union.

We had a very unexpected surprise when we went to dinner at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. We danced there on our 1st anniversary and never thought we would be able to return to this rather gaudy but very interesting restaurant. The decor is over the top, and all the wood carving is amazing. We had so much fun and it was so nice that we were able to share this adventure with these special long time friends.

I can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow holds!
