Fresno and Friends

We woke up and enjoyed a lovely patio breakfast with Don and Betty. It was so good to share the morning with them.

Don took us down to the Inner City area of Fresno to show us the "Rescue The Children" project he is working on in conjunction with his job at the City Rescue Mission. On the way we rode through the tent city area where we saw poverty straight on. It was shocking and sobering and made us both grateful of what we have been given and conscious of our social and spiritual responsibilities. Those images will not soon leave our minds.

After a nice lunch with Don, we left for Bob & Trudy's home. Bob was Jim's first spiritual mentor and the fertilizer for Jim's new faith. He and Trudy were our first Fresno friends. How blessed we are to enjoy the company of two couples so dear to us all in one day!

After a wonderful dinner Bob drove us to his vineyard. There was an all night harvest just beginning and both Jim and I found the process fascinating. We walked into the dusty fields, onto the hauling trucks, and picked (and ate!) the sweetest grapes we have ever eaten.

We have had an interesting day from start to finish.
